Once again due to the hard work, months of planning, and getting a main sponsor for this tournament, Marty Boyajian has succeeded in making this tournament a great success. He had a great team of workers, ATMs, and helpers behind him . All in all we had 16 teams participating in this event with 10 teams being from Arizona, 5 teams from the Inland Empire and one team from Orange County.
Our Main sponsor was the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians through the Soboba Casino. Our secondary sponsor was the City of Hemet. Not only did the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians contribute money for the prizes awarded to the winning teams but they furnished each player a $20 free play coupon they could use at the casino. We were very fortunate to have them as our primary sponsor for our tournament.
At the orientation luncheon on Sunday, March 23 our lunch of barbequed chicken was furnished by Miller-Jones Mortuary courtesy of Hamilton Jones. This luncheon was enoyed by approximately 260 players, spouses and guests. For the awards banquet on Friday night, March 28 we had approximately 250 players, guests and sponsors that enjoyed chicken or salisbury steak catered by Thomas Catering Company.
The awards for 1st , 2nd, and 3rd place were black jackets with the tournament logo, lapel pins indicating place won and indiviual team pictures. These were presented to the top three teams with a special award of lapel pins and team pictures presented to the 4th place teams also. Presenting the awards were Mike Hiles and Rose Selgado from Sobobo, and Lori Van Arsdale council member from the City of Hemet.
